HELDERBERG NATURE RESERVE - SOMERSET WEST, CAPE TOWN


Helderberg Nature Reserve in Somerset West offers numerous hikes and wonderful views.
Situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains, overlooking False Bay this is a must for hikers or walkers.

Sugar Bird Trail 2.9 km long Grade 1A
Protea Trail 6.2 km long Grade 2A
Caracal Trail 4.4 km long Grade 1.5A
Leopard Loop 8.2 km long Grade 2B
Watsonia Trail 4km long Grade 2A
Waboom Trail 7km long Grade 2B
West Peak 7 hrs Grade 3C
The Dome 8 hrs Grade 4C
Grading as follows:
1 - Easy
2 = Moderate
3  = Strenuous
4 = Very strenuous
Height Exposure
A - None
B - Some
C - Middling



There are 10 Trails in total - remember to take water, snacks, warm clothes (for those at higher altitudes) plus sunscreen and a hat.
It's a peaceful reserve with a No Fire, No Bin policy so please remember to take any litter home with you.
